Have you just got your new bike protection kit and are thinking about putting it on top of your decals? Think again!

For us, it’s all about the details. That’s the reason we always recommend applying your bike protection on a clean, sticker-free surface. By doing so, you don’t only get the best result from applying the protection itself, but also the best look of your decals. This is specifically important if you’re planning to apply decals with a special finish, for example a chrome, or a real stealth-finish.
Applying the protection film over your decals will create a so-called ghost effect (also called a halo effect), where air gets trapped around the edges of the decals. If you, for example, decide to keep the original decals on your fork, you shall be aware of the fact that this effect will appear when applying your bike protection.
And, let’s be honest. A set of decals are way cheaper to replace than a set of protection film. So, if you’d like to change your decals in the future, it’ll be a lot easier, and cheaper, if you don’t have to remove your protection film first.
Why you should apply your decals last:
- You get the best possible fit for your bike protection, which is designed for your bike without any decals on.
- No ghost/halo effect, where air gets trapped around the outside edges of the decals.
- Keep the factory finish on the decals.
- You can replace your decals without having to remove your bike protection.
